The First Call for Help Crisis Reception Center is designed to serve as a central point of access for individuals of all ages who are experiencing distress and find themselves in need of supports to address the situation.  This center is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays,  within an atmosphere that promotes healing and recovery. We are committed to work in partnership with individuals, families and other community provider systems to assist with acute distress and instability that individuals experience in a crisis

Do I need an appointment: No appointments are necessary. Our center is open 24 hours a day to support you when a crisis arises. Simply walk into our center located at 815 NW 4th Street and allow us to serve you.

When is the right time to walk in: The reasons for your crisis are unique to you, therefore, you determine for yourself what a crisis is.  What a crisis is for one person might not be for another. Individual life experiences many times cause feelings of distress and desperation that are difficult to go through alone with no awareness of where to find support or resources. This distress may be caused by homelessness, domestic abuse, mental health symptoms, struggles with addiction, unmet basic needs, or financial concerns, to list a few. You do NOT need to be suicidal to access our Crisis Reception Center. We are here to support individuals experiencing any level of distress or crisis.

What happens when I walk in: Upon arrival our staff will greet you and invite you into our safe and supportive environment. Staff will then begin a short triage process of identifying your needs to ensure we are able to immediately connect you with services within our facility to reduce your distress and begin to resolve your crisis.

What are the costs related to this program: We deliver services to all residents, of all ages, regardless of their ability to pay. Medical Insurance is billed if available. Services rendered through our center are voluntary.

How is the Center Designed to Help Me:

The Crisis Reception Center of Itasca County is comprised of a 24 hour living room access to individuals in mental health distress or crisis.  Consumers of all ages are accepted regardless of being uninsured, underinsured, or uninsurable.  The concept of this Crisis Reception Center is that individuals in self-determined crisis will no longer face barriers and will be able to access both screening and assessment 24 hours a day within this new facility.  The crisis reception center is a unique concept that adds an extra layer to typical walk in assessment centers.  Upon entering the center, you will be immediately greeted by screening staff that ensure safety and support for the current crisis episode.  During the screening and assessment services consumers will be brought into confidential rooms and assessed for their symptoms.  The unique component of this center is that during assessment if there is a co-occurring disorder, SUD presentation, and/or unmet basic
